A lime beam hitting a small brass nameplate. Thesis: APPEAR GOOGLE AI OVERVIEWS.

You appear in Google AI Overviews by publishing a passage Google can lift, on a page that is indexed and snippet-eligible, with brand facts that do not contradict themselves, then checking whether your URL actually shows up as a supporting link. Google’s AI features documentation is the floor: there are no extra technical requirements beyond ordinary Search eligibility, and Overviews often do not trigger. Nobody can sell you a guaranteed slot. This spoke is the operator sequence — extractable answer, entity, crawl, then measure — under the Answer Engine Optimization playbook.

The short answer

  • Write a 40–80 word lead that answers the buyer question without the rest of the page.
  • Make the brand a named entity: legal name, offer, location, and sameAs that actually point at you.
  • Confirm Googlebot can fetch a 200, the URL is indexed, and snippets are allowed.
  • Cover the sub-questions the Overview already shows with real sections, not doorway clones.
  • Measure a frozen query panel plus Search Console. Citation is the KPI. Informational CTR is not.

What does appearing in an AI Overview actually mean?

It means your URL is a supporting link inside a generated unit, or your facts grounded the sentence the unit showed. It does not mean an Overview fired. It does not mean a click. It does not mean ChatGPT named you. Those are four different outcomes, and mixing them is how a team celebrates a screenshot that was never their cite.

Google says AI Overviews are shown when the system decides they are additive to classic Search, and they often do not trigger. Absence of the unit on a keyword is not a citation failure. Absence of your URL when the unit does fire on a buyer query is.

Outcome you wantWhat you logWhat it is not
Overview presentFeature fired for that query / locale / deviceProof you were cited
Your URL citedSupporting link points at youA session in Analytics
Brand named, no linkThe sentence used your nameA Search Console impression you can filter
Click from the unitSomeone opened youThe default outcome — Google has said clicks from Overview SERPs can be higher quality, not more numerous
Classic blue-link rankYou are in the candidate poolAssignment of the cite

I have been SEO certified since 2021. I still score those columns separately. A dashboard that only shows average position will never tell you whether you appeared.

If the URL already ranks and the Overview cites someone else, this how-to is the wrong ticket. Switch to ranked but missing AI Overviews. If you need the eligibility and quotation mechanics in one place, use how to get cited in Google AI Overviews. This page stays on the sequence you run when the job is “appear,” not “debug a rank that already exists.”

What is the operator sequence, in order?

Extractable answer, then entity, then crawl, then measure. Invert that and you spend money on the wrong layer.

A quotable paragraph on a noindex URL is a diary. A crawlable homepage that never answers the query is an indexed slogan. A Search Console report with no frozen queries is a chart of anecdotes. The sequence exists so each layer has something real to stand on.

StepDone whenFailure if skipped
1. Extractable answerFirst 80 words stand alone; one table or procedure exists in HTMLGoogle retrieves you and compresses mush
2. EntityAbout, schema, and Business Profile agree on name, URL, offer, placeThe unit names a better-defined competitor
3. CrawlURL Inspection shows indexed, snippet-eligible HTML that contains the answerYou rewrote a page Google cannot quote
4. MeasureFrozen panel scored before and after a recrawl windowYou cannot tell if anything moved

Run this once on paper before you open the CMS:

  1. Name the primary query in the buyer’s words.
  2. Write the answer you want lifted, in one paragraph, in a blank note.
  3. Point at the live URL that should carry that paragraph.
  4. Confirm that URL is allowed to be indexed and snippeted.
  5. Only then paste, ship, and request a recrawl.

Do not start with a vendor “AEO score,” an llms.txt, or a custom schema type. Google’s generative AI optimization guide says Search does not use special AI text files, does not require chunking, and does not require special schema.org types for generative features. The sequence above is the work those docs leave standing.

How do you write an extractable answer Google can lift?

You write a paragraph a stranger can repeat after reading it once. Google’s people-first guidance and the AI-features page both want important content in textual form. They do not want you to “write for the model” as a separate dialect. People-first and extractable can be the same block.

Target 40–80 words for the lead. That is an operator range, not a Google spec. It is long enough to name the offer and the constraint, short enough to survive compression. John Mueller’s May 2025 note on succeeding in AI search still points at unique content, crawl access, preview controls, and structured data that matches what people see. None of that is a synonym list.

Quote-test the lead before you touch H2s:

  1. Copy the first 80 words of the live HTML into a blank note.
  2. Read them aloud. If you cannot hear the answer, stop.
  3. Check that the same words exist in View Source, not only after a client render.
  4. Add one table, numbered procedure, or decision list below the lead.
  5. Put the caveat next to the claim, not in a footer nobody reaches.
Before (unliftable)After (stands alone)
“We help brands win in the new search landscape.”“Spurlock Studios runs AI visibility audits: extractable pages, entity facts, crawl checks, and a frozen query panel. Inclusion in AI Overviews is not guaranteed.”
“Our HVAC team cares about your comfort.”“We install and service heat pumps for homes in [city]. Typical first visit: load check, existing equipment, and a written scope before anyone orders gear.”
Three screens of founder memoir, then the offerOffer sentence in the first 80 words; memoir later or not at all
Price “from $X” with no scopeA table: deliverable, what is in, what is out, who owns it
A 40-second reel and no transcriptThe same claims in a short text block under the video

Helpful, people-first content is the quality bar the AI-features page points at. Commodity listicles that anyone could have generated lose to a first-hand constraint, a dated procedure, or a table a buyer can use without the rest of the page. Google’s optimization guide calls that non-commodity content. Write the thing only you can say.

  • Primary query is the H1 or the first sentence, not a clever slogan
  • Lead answers who / what / for whom / constraint
  • One structured block (table, steps, or checklist) sits in the HTML
  • Numbers have units and dates when they matter
  • Soft CTA does not replace the answer
  • Caveats sit beside the claim

Worked rewrite — one sitting, one URL. Take a service page that currently opens with atmosphere. Do not touch the design system. Change the text layer only.

Example lead I will stand behind for this studio: “Spurlock Studios is a hybrid AI automation and custom web studio. Visibility work means extractable pages, entity facts, crawl checks, and a frozen query panel — not a guaranteed AI Overview slot.” That paragraph names the offer and the limit. A slogan about “winning search” does not.

If the lead fails the note test, do not “optimize” the rest of the page. Fix the lead.

Which URLs go in the first rewrite queue?

The URLs that already earn buyer queries and revenue — not the URLs you wish ranked. Pull Search Console landing pages and the pages sales actually sends. Rewrite those first. A fifty-post calendar does not replace an offer sentence on the money URL.

This is a queue, not a new site architecture. You are not choosing a five-page religion here. You are naming the three to seven URLs a model will try to compress when someone asks who you are and what you sell.

Queue slotHow you pick itFirst rewrite job
Money offer / serviceHighest-intent landing page by leads or revenueExtractable offer + scope table
HomepageBrand + category queriesWho, what, for whom, in HTML above the fold
About / entityDisambiguation queries and “who is X”Fact table that matches schema
One how-to or comparisonThe question the Overview already answers with a listCriteria table or numbered steps
Proof or FAQObjections sales already hearsVisible Q&A, not keyword stuffing

Procedure for building the queue this week:

  1. Export last 28 days of Search Console landing pages (Web search type).
  2. Tag each as buyer, brand, DIY, careers, or junk.
  3. Keep buyer + brand. Drop DIY and careers from the AEO queue.
  4. For each keeper, write the one sentence you want lifted.
  5. If that sentence does not exist in the crawled HTML, that URL is ticket one.
Query classPut in the Overview queue? Why
“best [service] for [ICP]”YesRecommendation-shaped; Overviews like tables
“[brand] vs [competitor]”Yes if you can be honestComparison passages get lifted
“what is [your category]”MaybeOnly if you have a real definition, not a slogan
“how to [DIY your product]”NoWrong job for a sales page
Careers / login / paramsNoDo not “AEO” those URLs

Surfer (or any coverage tool) can show a missing section. It cannot tell you which URL pays rent. Semrush can show whether an Overview tends to fire on the query class. Neither tool is a citation SLA. Use them as packing lists. Search Console remains the source of truth for your index status.

How do you make the brand an entity a model can name?

You publish one set of facts in sentences, then repeat those facts in Organization markup and in Google Business Profile. Models name things. If the homepage slogan, the About page, and the profile disagree on legal name, city, or offer, the unit hedges or substitutes a competitor with a cleaner packet.

schema.org Organization is the vocabulary. Google’s Organization structured data says markup on the home page can help disambiguate; there are no required properties — add what is relevant and true. sameAs should point at profiles that are actually you (schema.org/sameAs). A wrong LinkedIn is worse than a short list.

Minimum fact packet for Overview work:

FactWhere it must agreeCommon miss
Legal name and trade nameAbout, footer, schema name / legalNameHero slogan instead of a name
Canonical URLschema url, Search Console property, internal linkswww / apex / staging mixed
What you sellHomepage lead, service page, GBP categories“Solutions” with no noun
Where you operateAbout, GBP, location pageTwo cities, no service-area sentence
People who are the brandPerson markup only if visibleInvented titles
Retired namesOne “also known as” lineOld product still in a press release

The AI-features page tells you to keep Merchant Center and Business Profile information current, because generative responses can pull product and local details from those systems as well as from HTML. If GBP says one city and the page says another, you taught two systems two facts. Overviews are not the place you want that argument settled.

  • About page states name, offer, and place in plain sentences
  • Organization JSON-LD matches those sentences
  • sameAs URLs load and are you
  • GBP categories and description match the offer lead
  • No second legal name hiding in the footer
  • Merchant Center feed does not fight product-page copy, if you sell products

Write the packet as sentences before anyone opens a schema plugin:

  1. Legal name: “The legal entity is ____. We trade as ____.”
  2. Offer: “We sell ____ to ____. We do not sell ____.”
  3. Place: “We operate in ____. We do not take jobs in ____.”
  4. People: ”____ is the founder / operator. Public profiles: ____.”
  5. Retired names: “We used to be called ____. That name is retired.”

Paste those five sentences onto About. Then copy them into JSON-LD. Then check GBP. If a sentence cannot be true on all three, the sentence is wrong — not the markup.

Entity work is boring on purpose. That is the point. A cinematic About page that never says the legal name is not mysterious. It is un-nameable.

How do you confirm crawl and snippet eligibility?

You confirm Google can fetch the HTML you think you shipped, that the URL is in the index, and that you did not forbid snippets. That is the whole crawl step. It is a confirmation, not a research project. Google’s Search technical requirements still apply: Googlebot is not blocked, the page returns HTTP 200, the file type is supported, and the page does not violate spam policy. The AI-features page adds the snippet clause. There is no second robots protocol.

Run URL Inspection on every money URL before you argue about “AEO”:

  1. Search Console → URL Inspection on the live URL.
  2. Confirm “URL is on Google.” If it is not, stop the Overview ticket.
  3. Open the crawled HTML. Search for the answer sentence.
  4. Search the same HTML for nosnippet, max-snippet, and data-nosnippet.
  5. Confirm the canonical is the URL you want cited.
  6. If Chrome and crawled HTML disagree, you have a render problem, not a copy problem.

Property-level generative AI excludeSet include, if that is the goalAssume robots.txt is the only switch

Preview controls are documented on the robots meta spec: nosnippet applies to AI Overviews and AI Mode, and it prevents the content from being used as a direct input for those features. If you find a blocker, this sequence pauses. The diagnostic spoke owns the full ladder. Recrawl after a preview-control change can take days to months. Do not declare the fix dead on day two.

Google-Extended is a training and grounding token for Gemini apps and Vertex. Search Central says it does not change Search inclusion or ranking. Blocking it is not an Overview opt-out. Mixing that switch with Googlebot is a category error.

CDN and WAF mistakes look like “Google can’t find us” and show up as crawl failures, not AEO mysteries:

robots.txt allows Googlebot on money URLsFetch allowedDisallow copied from a “block AI” gist that also hit Googlebot

  • robots.txt does not Disallow the money path to Googlebot
  • WAF allowlist or known-bot rules are not 403ing Googlebot
  • Sitemap includes the URLs you want cited

JavaScript is allowed if it is not blocked, but JavaScript SEO is the harder path. Put the answer in the initial HTML. A hero canvas with no text twin is a film, not a citation candidate.

  • Money URL returns 200 to Googlebot
  • Not noindex in HTML or X-Robots-Tag
  • Snippets allowed (no sitewide nosnippet)
  • Answer text in crawled HTML
  • Canonical is the money URL
  • Settings → Search generative AI is include, if the control exists

Google’s Search Console help documents a Search generative AI control. Default is include. Exclude removes your links and content from AI Overviews, AI Mode, and generative Discover features. As of Google’s August 31, 2026 help-center note, they describe a worldwide rollout. Check the setting even if nobody on the team remembers touching it — parent properties can inherit exclude.

How do you cover the question without doorway pages?

You look at the Overview that already fires — or at People Also Ask — and you answer the sub-questions with real sections or a real spoke. You do not publish a thin URL per synonym.

Overviews and AI Mode may use query fan-out: related searches across subtopics, then retrieval against the Search index. Google’s optimization guide uses a lawn-weeds example: herbicides, non-chemical removal, prevention. You win by covering those jobs honestly. You lose by stuffing every variant into one bloated URL, or by cloning a doorway page per phrasing. Creating separate content for every fan-out variation primarily to manipulate rankings or generative AI responses violates Google’s scaled content abuse policy.

ApproachUse whenSkip when
One deep page with H2s as sub-answersOne primary intentYou are stuffing five products into one URL
Pillar + spoke clusterMultiple intents share an entitySpokes are thin rewrites of each other
Doorway variants (/best-x-city-a)Almost never for this workAlways

Map the sub-questions before you write:

  1. Run the primary query in an incognito window on the locale you sell into.
  2. If an Overview is present, list the bullets and cited domains.
  3. If it is not present, list PAA and the first three classic results’ H2s.
  4. Assign each sub-question to an H2 on the money URL or to one spoke.
  5. Link them. Depth beats duplication.

A cluster that exists to be useful still helps machines assemble an answer. A cluster that exists to occupy every phrasing is the old doorway play with a new acronym. The citation playbook owns the longer fan-out and RAG discussion. Here the operator rule is shorter: cover the question the unit already asks, then stop.

What structured data is worth adding?

The markup that matches visible copy. Organization on the entity page. Article or BlogPosting on articles. FAQPage only when the page is actually a list of questions the site owner answers. HowTo only when the steps are on the page. Nothing “for AI Overviews.”

Google’s structured data intro is still the rule: markup helps Google understand a page and can make it eligible for rich results; it has to match visible content. The optimization guide’s mythbusting section is explicit: structured data is not required for generative AI search, and there is no special schema.org type for it. Over-focusing on JSON-LD is a miss if the HTML cannot be quoted.

MarkupKeep whenCut when
Organization / PersonAbout and sameAs are trueYou invent awards
Article / BlogPostingThe page is an article; dates and author are trueYou stamp it on a pricing calculator
FAQPageVisible Q&A is the point of the pageYou hide 40 questions in a script tag
HowToThe page is a procedureYou mark a sales page as twelve “steps”
Custom “AEO” typeNeverAlways
llms.txt as a Search signalNever for Google SearchAlways, if someone sold it as Overview markup

Validate what you ship. If JSON-LD says you were founded in 2019 and About says 2014, you did not add clarity. You added a contradiction. Schema that matches visible content still helps machines understand what the page is. It does not replace the lead paragraph.

  • Visible facts written first
  • JSON-LD copied from those facts, not the other way around
  • FAQ H3s that end in ? stay in sync with FAQPage, if you use it
  • No empty pages that exist only to hold markup

How do you measure appearance without a fake citation rate?

You freeze a query list, log whether an Overview fired and whether your URL was the supporting link, and you pair that with Search Console. You do not invent a percentage. You do not paste an industry CTR-drop number into a board deck as destiny. Citation rate is non-deterministic. One screenshot is an anecdote.

Sites appearing in AI Overviews and AI Mode are included in overall Search Console Web performance. Google also ships a Generative AI performance report. As of their August 31, 2026 help-center note, they describe a worldwide rollout of those insights. The report can still be empty if impressions are too low or if the property is set to exclude. It tracks impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode by page, country, and device. It is not a full citation log. It will not tell you which sentence was lifted.

Impression counting is stricter than people assume. Google’s impressions, position, and clicks help page says an Overview impression counts when the link is scrolled or expanded into view, and every link inside the Overview inherits the same position — the Overview occupies one SERP slot.

Keep a frozen panel. Do not add queries mid-week because a screenshot looked exciting.

FieldWhy it exists
Query (exact string)Fan-out and Overview presence are query-specific
Date / locale / deviceOverviews differ; log what you actually saw
Overview present (Y/N)Feature fire is not the same as a cite
Your URL cited (Y/N)The only AEO win on that row
Other cited domainsShows who owns the assembled answer
GSC generative AI impressions on the URLDirectional, delayed, canonical-assigned
Notes (answer / entity / crawl)Tells you which layer to open next

Build the panel from queries you already have, not from a keyword-tool fantasy list:

  1. Take the 20 queries that already send buyer landing-page impressions in Search Console.
  2. Drop navigational junk (login, careers, “near me” you do not serve).
  3. Keep 15–25 that a human would ask when they are choosing a vendor.
  4. Add the exact string you want the Overview to answer — even if it currently has zero impressions.
  5. Freeze the list in a sheet. Date the first run. Do not edit the strings for 30 days.
Query you might addKeep?Why
“[service] for [ICP]”YesRecommendation-shaped
“how do I [primary job]”YesHow-to Overviews lift procedures
“[brand] pricing”Yes if you publish a postureOtherwise the unit will invent one
“[brand] careers”NoWrong job
Synonym #14 of the same how-toNoFan-out, not a new row

Fifteen to twenty-five queries is enough for a studio or local site. Re-run weekly. A month of the same panel is a trend. I will not attach a fake “Overview win rate” to this method. If you cannot say the number on a sales call, do not put it in a passage you hope Google lifts.

Operator calendar for the first recrawl window — this is measurement, not a promise you will appear:

DayWhat you doWhat you do not do
0Baseline the frozen panel; ship the extractable + entity + crawl fixesRefresh Search Console hourly
2Confirm URL Inspection requested indexing on money URLsDeclare failure because the SERP looks the same
7Re-run the panel; note Overview fire vs cite separatelyChange the query strings
21Re-run; inspect crawled HTML againStart a second rewrite on a different theory
30Compare day-0 and day-30 rowsInvent a citation percentage for a deck

If day 7 is unchanged, that is normal. Google’s recrawl language is days to months. A week of no movement is not evidence the lead failed. A month of the same panel with crawled HTML still missing the answer is evidence the crawl step is unfinished.

  • Property verified; generative AI control set to include
  • Report exists or you recorded why it does not
  • Priority landing pages filtered; data assigned to the canonical
  • Manual Overview spot-check on 15–25 frozen queries
  • Citation logged separately from average position
  • Conversions and time on site tracked, not informational CTR alone

Google’s own line is more useful than a recycled CTR stat: clicks from pages with AI Overviews can be higher quality (more time on site), and you will miss that if you only watch click-through rate. Plan the page’s job accordingly. Some URLs exist to be quoted. Others exist to convert brand demand. The visibility scoreboard is where those jobs get named.

What fails when you invert the sequence?

You measure a page that was never quotable, or you rewrite a page Google is not allowed to quote, or you ship entity markup that contradicts the homepage. The cost is not “we moved slower.” The cost is a quarter of calendar spent on the wrong layer while the money URL still opens with atmosphere.

Concrete failure modes:

InversionWhat you shippedWhat you should have shipped
Measure firstA dashboard, no extractable leadThe 80-word answer on the money URL
Crawl lastBeautiful copy on a nosnippet templateTemplate fix, then the rewrite
Entity skippedTwo legal names, GBP in another cityOne fact packet
Fan-out first40 doorway postsThree H2s on the money URL
Schema firstJSON-LD that invents a founding yearVisible About facts, then markup

Worked failure I see on service sites: marketing buys an “AI Overviews package.” The vendor deploys a custom type nobody validates. The homepage still says “we craft experiences.” URL Inspection still shows the answer missing from crawled HTML. Two months later, leadership asks why the citation rate did not move. There was never a citation rate. There was a lead that could not be lifted.

Do this instead, in order, with one change per recrawl window:

  1. Quote-test the money URL. Rewrite the lead and add one table.
  2. Align About, schema, and Business Profile to that same offer sentence.
  3. Confirm indexation and snippet eligibility. Fix blockers. Request recrawl.
  4. Score the frozen panel. Change one layer. Wait. Score it again.

Who owns which step so the inversion cannot hide in Slack:

StepOwnerConsultedDone artifact
Extractable answerWhoever writes the money URLSales (real objections)Lead paragraph + one table in HTML
EntityFounder or marketing opsLegal, whoever owns GBPFact packet the schema was copied from
CrawlWhoever can change templates and robotsHosting / CDNURL Inspection screenshot of crawled HTML
MeasureSEO or growthDemand genDated panel sheet, not a vibe

If “everyone owns AEO,” nobody runs the Tuesday panel. Assign the four rows. Keep it small.

If you change copy, schema, and off-site mentions in the same week, you will not know which lever moved. Three messy sprints feel busy. One clean loop tells you whether to keep writing or go look at eligibility.

Off-site corroboration still matters after the four steps are clean. Google’s guide says chasing inauthentic mentions is a miss; spam systems still apply. Get About, Business Profile, and a handful of real third-party pages to agree. That is corroboration. A purchased “10 AI citations” package is not. It is also not step one.

What should you skip if you only have a week?

Skip theater. Keep the sequence on the smallest set that can prove the method.

Do this:

  1. Pick five buyer queries and the live URLs that should win them.
  2. Quote-test those URLs. Rewrite the leads that fail.
  3. Add one table or numbered procedure per URL.
  4. Align About + Organization facts to the same sentences.
  5. URL-inspect for index, snippet, and crawled HTML.
  6. Baseline the five queries (Overview Y/N, your URL cited Y/N).
  7. Request recrawl. Re-check at day 7 and day 21 — not hourly.

Skip this:

TemptationWhy it waitsWhat it costs this week
llms.txt as an Overview tacticGoogle Search does not use it as a special signalHours you could have spent on the lead
Custom AEO schemaNo official typeA contradiction if it drifts from HTML
Doorway fan-outSpam risk; thin pagesA mess you will have to delete
Fifty-post calendarCluster work after the money URLsWriter time on the wrong URL
Inauthentic mention buysSpam systems still applyBrand residue you cannot un-publish
Guaranteed-inclusion vendorNobody can sell that honestlyBudget plus a setting you did not check

If five URLs share a broken template, you do not have five content problems. You have one engineering ticket. Fix the layout, request recrawl on the money set, and only then open the writing queue.

Recrawl timing is Google’s, not yours. The AI-features troubleshooting note is the one to remember: days to months, then inspect the fetched HTML again. A week is long enough to baseline and ship the extractable layer. It is not long enough to declare the program failed.

When is this not worth doing yet?

When Search itself is not working, when you have no buyer queries, or when you are asking Overviews to do a job the feature does not do.

New domains with nothing indexed do not have an AI Overviews problem. They have a Search problem. Fix crawl, internal links, and a real page. I will not tell you a number of days until you “appear.” Google does not publish an SLA. Recrawl can take days to months. Feature fire is their decision. Citation is a passage-selection outcome, not a switch you toggle.

If the page is indexed, snippet-eligible, answer-first, entity-consistent, and still never cited after several re-tests on a competitive query, stop endlessly copy-tweaking. Expand honest fan-out coverage, build corroboration, or accept that a roundup ecosystem owns that prompt for now. Infinite on-page rewrites are how teams avoid the next layer.

A page can be “done” for Overviews and still be a bad sales page. Those are different edits. Do not mix them in one ticket.

FAQ

How do I appear in Google AI Overviews?

Ship an extractable answer on an indexed, snippet-eligible URL, keep entity facts consistent, then measure whether your URL is the supporting link. Google documents no extra Overview markup and no inclusion guarantee. Run extractable answer, entity, crawl, then measure — in that order.

How do I measure whether appearing in Google AI Overviews is working?

Log a frozen query panel: Overview present, your URL cited, other domains cited. Pair that with Search Console’s generative AI impressions when the report has data. Do not treat informational CTR, or a single screenshot, as the score. Impression counting requires the Overview link to be scrolled or expanded into view.

What usually fails first when teams try this?

The lead. The money URL opens with atmosphere, the answer lives in a video or a client-rendered widget, or the template forbids snippets. The second failure is inverted sequence: dashboards and schema packs before a paragraph Google can lift. Fix the HTML you want quoted before you buy a calendar.

How long does this take to show results?

Google does not publish an appearance SLA. Recrawl after a preview-control or content change can take days to months, and feature fire is separate from citation. Re-score the same panel after a recrawl window — day 7 and day 21 are operator checks, not a two-week inclusion promise.

What should I skip if I only have a week?

Skip llms.txt theater, custom AEO types, doorway fan-out, and mention-buying. Quote-test five buyer URLs, align entity facts, confirm crawl and snippets, and baseline the panel. If the template is the blocker, that is the whole week.

When is this not worth doing yet?

When the money URL is not in Search, when you have no buyer queries, or when you need a guaranteed citation. Fix indexation first. If you already rank and still never appear, use the diagnostic, not this how-to. If you want an SLA, there is not one.

CTA

Stop shopping for Overview markup. Write the sentence you want lifted, put it on a crawlable page that agrees with your entity facts, then log whether Google actually cited you.

Bring the frozen query list and the money URLs. That is enough to start.

Start on /visibility, or book a visibility audit if you want the sequence run with a dated baseline.

When is this not worth doing yet?
When the money URL is not in Search, when you have no buyer queries, or when you need a guaranteed citation. Fix indexation first. If you already rank and still never appear, use the diagnostic, not this how-to. If you want an SLA, there is not one.
